The food and drinks were actually good, but the service was totally disappointing. Specifically, the young guy who was serving water had a very bad attitude. It felt like he doesn't know how to do his job properly, or he simply dislikes working there. His lack of interest was clearly visible in his behavior. He doesn't welcome customers properly, nor does he take orders in a polite manner. He doesn't even stand and listen to what we need. We were a group of three people sitting at the table, but he just asked one person for water and rushed away immediately. He doesn't even interact or communicate properly with the customers. This is a very bad attitude from the staff at Sri Ananda Bhavan Restaurant, especially that one particular server. Furthermore, we had to repeatedly call out for staff to get anything done. It’s not that they were short-staffed, but shouldn't the available staff be attentive and serve the customers properly? Many other customers around me were equally frustrated. Honestly, today morning was my worst experience at Sri Ananda Bhavan. The way they handle customers is highly disappointing. They are very prompt in collecting the money, but they fail miserably when it comes to customer service. I don't understand why their behavior is so poor
Visited with my family on a nice rainy afternoon, best decision! We had a lovely range of dishes and of course the banana leaf. Their palak paneer and butter chicken is amazing! Each dish with lots of flavour, we were so impressed. The prawn coconut curry was the star of the show! Brilliant service, fresh delicious food, what more could you want ❤️
Absolutely loved my meal here. The food was the best I've had in Ipoh and the prices were really decent. The mango lassi was also really great. The staff were all super friendly. Thank you for making me feel so welcomed! If I'm ever back in Ipoh this will be my first stop !
Best place to have South Indian cuisine in Butterworth. I used to come here 3 years ago very frequently because they're good, and the only reason I haven't been coming is because I wasn't in the country! Now that I visited them again their standards are still the same. Don't miss out on them if you ever wonder what to eat in Butterworth.
Good stop for a quick breakfast. I would recommend the ghee dosa, idli set, poori set with potato sabzi. Sambar served for lunch is good, even fantastic at times (I'm guessing that depends on the chef). Friendly staff. Place is in desperate need of an upgrade though, from the furniture to the hand wash area and bathrooms. Dining space upstairs sits idle most of the time. I dare say this prolly is one of the most neglected SABs of all the ones in Penang I've visited thus far. Also, we come out smelling of food given the ventilation design.
The Tandoori Chicken Briyani was the highlight of the meal with fragrant, fluffy basmati rice paired with beautifully marinated chicken that was tender, smoky and perfectly charred. The accompanying dhal, raita and curry completed the dish wonderfully. The Teh Tarik was equally impressive, smooth, creamy and expertly pulled with just the right balance of tea and sweetness. The only slight disappointment was the Mutton which was a little tough and could have been more tender. The Chettinad Chicken, although cooked well, lacked the bold, robust spices and depth of flavour typically associated with this classic South Indian dish. That said, the extensive selection of curries, vegetarian dishes and Indian sweets makes this an excellent place to explore authentic Indian cuisine. With generous portions, reasonable prices and consistently good quality, Sri Ananda Bahwan remains a must-visit whenever you’re in Penang.

Today, enjoyed a very delicious banana leaf rice meal. Just mix n taste the magic! Nothing is going to come between me n my banana leaf rice, not even a broken hand. Thanks also to Mr Sasi (Mgr) n his efficient team, good job. Will come again
Bold statement but actually think I had the best rice and curry today. And I’ve eaten a lot of rice and curry on my travels. Had tofu too and the guy was helpful with the food
Came here for tea time, enjoyed their tea time choices thoroughly. There were a few varieties of snacks to choose from, being a vadai lover, I first tried their vadai and it did not disappoint. Also tried their samosa and some sweets which was pretty good. Chai was delicious, will definitely come back when I come to butterworth again. 🙂😋

A good place for those craving for Indian spicy food. They do have a variety of delicious choices for both vege and non-veg banana leaf food. Service wise, overall satisfied, but could consider improving a little during the peak time.
