Bold statement but actually think I had the best rice and curry today. And I’ve eaten a lot of rice and curry on my travels. Had tofu too and the guy was helpful with the food
Sri Ananda Bahwan Restaurant left a very positive impression on me from the moment we were seated. The servers were quick and attentive, taking the time to explain the menu clearly, which made ordering easy and pleasant. Service was impressively fast, and our food arrived without much waiting, even though the restaurant was fairly busy. The fried rice stood out for its quality, made using premium basmati rice. Each grain was light, fragrant, and well-cooked, resulting in a dish that was simple yet very satisfying. The naan bread was another highlight, served warm, light, and tasty, perfect for pairing with the curries. The roti telur was equally excellent, with a nice balance of crispness and softness. We also ordered the potato and broccoli vegetable dish, which turned out to be an eye opener. It was creamy, comforting, and surprisingly flavourful. The mutton curry was another winner, with tender meat in a rich, creamy gravy that wasn’t overpowering. To end the meal, the apam manis was light and refreshing, while the lassi had a pleasant sweetness without being too sour. Overall, it was a very enjoyable dining experience, and I definitely look forward to trying their banana leaf rice and exploring more dishes on the menu in the future.
We had our brother’s ROM celebration at their hall upstairs. The space is comfortable yet abit small. The atmosphere is clean and tidy. The food catered by them was too god and delicious. I would say a 9/10 and those complimentary food are also superb delicious. Definitely would recommend them for catering. Price is reasonable and the service was top notch. The workers are friendly and super helpful throughout the event. All went smoothly. Thank you!
The food and drinks were actually good, but the service was totally disappointing. Specifically, the young guy who was serving water had a very bad attitude. It felt like he doesn't know how to do his job properly, or he simply dislikes working there. His lack of interest was clearly visible in his behavior. He doesn't welcome customers properly, nor does he take orders in a polite manner. He doesn't even stand and listen to what we need. We were a group of three people sitting at the table, but he just asked one person for water and rushed away immediately. He doesn't even interact or communicate properly with the customers. This is a very bad attitude from the staff at Sri Ananda Bhavan Restaurant, especially that one particular server. Furthermore, we had to repeatedly call out for staff to get anything done. It’s not that they were short-staffed, but shouldn't the available staff be attentive and serve the customers properly? Many other customers around me were equally frustrated. Honestly, today morning was my worst experience at Sri Ananda Bhavan. The way they handle customers is highly disappointing. They are very prompt in collecting the money, but they fail miserably when it comes to customer service. I don't understand why their behavior is so poor
One of the best thosai is served here. Crispy at edges and soft in the middle. Perfect with it's thick & tasty dhall. It's coconut chutney is thick unlike other places which was too diluted. Go for it's chicken perathal and fried cauliflower too! There are many other choices too such as it's fried spicy BeeHoon, Uppuma, etc.
One of the best indian restarunt in penang banana leaf ultimately fast services vegetables 🥕🍅 are very testy,, especially the butter Chicken very tasty yummy 😋😋, must visit the restaurant are families they are got also ac hall better comfortable feeling, service is very good 👍, also hearing the songs 🎵 very very superbbbbb,, They got beer also, most of the forigners dine the restaurant, warm welcome nice smiling always we return to coming the restaurant
Open on Thaipusam day. Food & service top notch. Room for improvement: Place looks a bit run down may need a refurbishment. Ventilation is pretty bad as it was quite stuffy.
Good stop for a quick breakfast. I would recommend the ghee dosa, idli set, poori set with potato sabzi. Sambar served for lunch is good, even fantastic at times (I'm guessing that depends on the chef). Friendly staff. Place is in desperate need of an upgrade though, from the furniture to the hand wash area and bathrooms. Dining space upstairs sits idle most of the time. I dare say this prolly is one of the most neglected SABs of all the ones in Penang I've visited thus far. Also, we come out smelling of food given the ventilation design.
The food is both tasty and hygienic. The bathroom was spotless, very clean, and neat. Although the seating area isn't extensive, it provides comfortable tables. You can reserve an air-conditioned room in advance if needed. I highly recommend trying the Rava those with Kambathu chicken and the roti canai with mutton curry for breakfast. And don't forget to sample the filter coffee!
Had an amazing experience at Ananda Bhavan! The food was fresh, flavorful, and perfectly cooked. The dosa was crispy, the curries were rich, and everything tasted authentic. Service was quick and friendly, and the place was clean and comfortable. Great spot for delicious Indian food. Definitely coming back again.
Awesome environment. An absolute delicious meal we have today! We love the way the food is served, always heat up, fresh and presentable. The staff is very friendly and attentive to request. That is why I always brought my family here every weekend.... Look at empty plates, that is good enough to explain how delicious it is for us.
You can find one of the best keseri here, with service that truly stands out compared to other branches. I really enjoy coming here. please continue maintaining this excellent standard. Special credit goes to the manager/supervisor for leading such great work!
