Open on Thaipusam day. Food & service top notch. Room for improvement: Place looks a bit run down may need a refurbishment. Ventilation is pretty bad as it was quite stuffy.

I honestly don’t understand the negative reviews—this place has been a little sanctuary for me. The staff, even though many are from other countries, make it feel like a second home. They are so kind, caring, and always go out of their way to help. You can feel the warmth in the way they serve you—like you’re part of their family. The food is always fresh and made with love, and the cozy vibe just wraps around you. Whether I come for a quick bite or a long, relaxed meal, it never feels rushed or impersonal. I love supporting this restaurant because they bring such genuine care to every customer. If you’re looking for a place that feels like home, this is it. I can’t recommend it enough!

Came here for tea time, enjoyed their tea time choices thoroughly. There were a few varieties of snacks to choose from, being a vadai lover, I first tried their vadai and it did not disappoint. Also tried their samosa and some sweets which was pretty good. Chai was delicious, will definitely come back when I come to butterworth again. 🙂😋

Sri Ananda Bahwan Restaurant left a very positive impression on me from the moment we were seated. The servers were quick and attentive, taking the time to explain the menu clearly, which made ordering easy and pleasant. Service was impressively fast, and our food arrived without much waiting, even though the restaurant was fairly busy. The fried rice stood out for its quality, made using premium basmati rice. Each grain was light, fragrant, and well-cooked, resulting in a dish that was simple yet very satisfying. The naan bread was another highlight, served warm, light, and tasty, perfect for pairing with the curries. The roti telur was equally excellent, with a nice balance of crispness and softness. We also ordered the potato and broccoli vegetable dish, which turned out to be an eye opener. It was creamy, comforting, and surprisingly flavourful. The mutton curry was another winner, with tender meat in a rich, creamy gravy that wasn’t overpowering. To end the meal, the apam manis was light and refreshing, while the lassi had a pleasant sweetness without being too sour. Overall, it was a very enjoyable dining experience, and I definitely look forward to trying their banana leaf rice and exploring more dishes on the menu in the future.

We had our brother’s ROM celebration at their hall upstairs. The space is comfortable yet abit small. The atmosphere is clean and tidy. The food catered by them was too god and delicious. I would say a 9/10 and those complimentary food are also superb delicious. Definitely would recommend them for catering. Price is reasonable and the service was top notch. The workers are friendly and super helpful throughout the event. All went smoothly. Thank you!

Absolutely loved my meal here. The food was the best I've had in Ipoh and the prices were really decent. The mango lassi was also really great. The staff were all super friendly. Thank you for making me feel so welcomed! If I'm ever back in Ipoh this will be my first stop !

A visit after so long.. Yes, I came for the egg briyani. 😅 It's a flavorful plate of briyani. A bit pricey.. But, I do LOVE the ambiance over here. 🥰🥰 No harm in eating here once in a while.. P/s : Popular spot for both local & tourist.

The Tandoori Chicken Briyani was the highlight of the meal with fragrant, fluffy basmati rice paired with beautifully marinated chicken that was tender, smoky and perfectly charred. The accompanying dhal, raita and curry completed the dish wonderfully. The Teh Tarik was equally impressive, smooth, creamy and expertly pulled with just the right balance of tea and sweetness. The only slight disappointment was the Mutton which was a little tough and could have been more tender. The Chettinad Chicken, although cooked well, lacked the bold, robust spices and depth of flavour typically associated with this classic South Indian dish. That said, the extensive selection of curries, vegetarian dishes and Indian sweets makes this an excellent place to explore authentic Indian cuisine. With generous portions, reasonable prices and consistently good quality, Sri Ananda Bahwan remains a must-visit whenever you’re in Penang.

Awesome environment. An absolute delicious meal we have today! We love the way the food is served, always heat up, fresh and presentable. The staff is very friendly and attentive to request. That is why I always brought my family here every weekend.... Look at empty plates, that is good enough to explain how delicious it is for us.

Service was quick and friendly, and the place was clean and comfortable. Great spot for delicious Indian food. Definitely coming back again.

Bold statement but actually think I had the best rice and curry today. And I’ve eaten a lot of rice and curry on my travels. Had tofu too and the guy was helpful with the food
